As part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, the Friends of Philately / Museu de Filatelia Sérgio G. Pedro joined the event that the Lyceu de Faro Museum promotes in a wide range of activities on the 25th of April, presenting the Collection by Luís Bráz “The military coup of April 25, 1974”.

On display are the stamp issues recently put into circulation on the 25th of April, one of which represents, on 100% recycled paper, the awakening of popular art that the 25th of April allowed and the other – which was launched at the same time in Angola and Cape Verde – is a joint issue of stamps that the three countries dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April with the respective 1st day envelopes obliterated with a red stamp, an absolute novelty in Portugal.

In addition to the two issues mentioned above, there is also a portfolio with all the 2024 stamps relating to the 25th of April, including those from Angola and Cape Verde, as well as the same issue from 2014.

Highlighted is the 1st Premium edition of the book by António Costa Pinto and André Paris with the title: “25th of April, 50 years of Democracy”, in which the stamps of Angola, Cape Verde and Portugal are inserted alluding to the 50 years of the 25th of April, also containing a gold replica of the stamp representing the April carnation included in the issue “25 years of the Revolution of the 25th of April 1974”, issued in 1999. The historic date also includes a limited edition of this stamp in gold, certified by the National Mint Press.

The presentation of the book and other philatelic products alluding to the celebrations of the 25th of April – 50 years for CTT – was the responsibility of CTT representatives, namely, the Commercial Director of the South zone Sérgio Antas and Store Manager of São Brás de Alportel Edgar Candeias.

Online Exhibition

In addition to the above, the Friends of Philately also decided to present some collections from deceased philatelic colleagues, namely José Pintado, Francisco Paiva and Luís Carvalho.

Finally, the Friends of Philately present collections from active colleagues, two of which have already been presented in the past, as well as two specially organized to be published on this occasion.
