After the dismissal of Jonathan Majors, the story of Avengers 5 – formerly known as Kang Dynasty – is expected to change direction.

If Marvel decides to move away from Kang the Conqueror, an adaptation of the Marvel Comics story ‘Siege’ (from this comic here) would be an ideal choice for the fifth film. In 2019, Avengers: Endgame was the team’s last film, ending the Infinity Saga. And in 2027, Avengers: Secret Wars will conclude the Multiverse Saga.
It is expected that the fifth Avengers film will show Kang facing the Avengers. However, with the departure of Jonathan Majors from the MCU and internal issues at Marvel, the focus of the Avengers 5 could change.
A story based on the ‘Siege’ comic could be an excellent replacement, which could involve an attack on New Asgard and a global conflict with Wakanda and Talokan as allies.
The Perfect Alternative to Avengers 5
The film would focus on a World War, with Sam Wilson forming a new team of Avengers to stop the conflict, continuing the political narratives associated with Captain America. This film would also address pending plots in the MCU, resolving issues left over from previous projects.
Despite the speculation, there is still no confirmation about the title change for the next Avengers film. Rumors indicate that the film could simply be called ‘Avengers 5’, removing the reference to ‘Kang Dynasty’. This could reflect a significant change of plans for the villain in future films.
Still, even with Marvel having established Kang as a primary threat, a move away from the character could be beneficial to the MCU. With the critical and box office failure of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Majors’ departure, Marvel could consider a new direction for the character.
Doctor Destiny may be a possible alternative, calling directly to Avengers: Secret Wars and being a villain desired by fans. On the other hand, the ‘Siege’ adaptation would offer a more realistic and down-to-earth approach, a refreshing alternative amid the focus on the multiverse.
Secret Invasion, while limited in scope as a Disney+ series, had the potential to establish a new team of superheroes. ‘Siege’ could realize that potential, creating an intriguing and connected narrative while setting the stage for future MCU events.
