The Teen Titans are expected to arrive in the new DC universe sooner than expected. The superhero giant is already planning a film about the team. And, to maintain coherence in this world, James Gunn called on the screenwriter of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow –Ana Nogueira– to write the new plot. The team could even play a decisive role in the reality of the Justice League.

Initially, the team of heroes did not have the formation known in Cartoon Network animations. In the comics, Robin, Wonder Girl, Aqualad, and Kid Flash are the original members of the Teen Titans. They want to step out of the shadows of their incredible Justice League mentors, and because of that, they are extremely complex and fascinating.

The Teen Titans bring something essential to the world of DC: freshness. After following countless adventures by Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Flash, the audience was desperate for a different, non-standard story. The team’s stories change over time, especially due to the evolution of the characters.

In the world of DC, Batman and Superman have well-defined personalities. Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent do not change their ideology as adults. On the other side of the spectrum, the team are teenagers, where they constantly make mistakes and learn from the difficult lives of heroes. The team’s stories are able to connect with the audience, which can be difficult in stories of this genre.

Teen Titans: The new Guardians of the Galaxy?

In this new DC cinematic universe, the Teen Titans must play the role of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The team of teenagers can play the role of comic relief and at the same time be at the center of the studios plot. It is worth remembering that James Gunn was the one who introduced the concept of the Infinity Stones to Marvel.

The team led by Robin must set the pace for the new DC. In a completely new world, James Gunn has the freedom to present them however he wants. The filmmaker could even introduce each character separately. And then create a team formation story, just like The Avengers (2012).

But, according to the website The Hollywood Reporter, the superhero giant wants to introduce the team of teenagers as soon as possible. At the moment, Superman: Legacy is the only film with a confirmed release date: July 11th.
