Hello? Investor criticizes Disney for “sealing” films with mostly black or female casts

The investor Nelson Peltzaged 81, criticized the Disney in relation to films ‘Black Panther’ It is ‘The Marvels’questioning the need to have a mostly black or female cast.

According to Variety, Peltz declared:

“I’m not ready to say this, but I question his record. […] People go to the cinema or watch a series to have fun, not to receive a message. Why do I have to watch a Marvel movie with all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do this? Why we can’t have ‘The Marvels’ with both [homens e mulheres]? Why I Need an All-Black Cast [para ‘Pantera Negra’]?”

In response to statements from Peltza representative of Disney he said: “This is exactly why Nelson Peltz shouldn’t be anywhere near a company driven by creativity”.

It is important to highlight that Peltz and his company, Trian Partners, began a billion-dollar campaign to win a place on the board of directors of Disney last year. Although they have since abandoned the plan, they are back with a vengeance in 2024.

It is worth mentioning that last year, Bob IgerCEO of Disneydeclared that the studio’s productions should focus on storytelling rather than defending private agendas. “The creators have lost sight of what their number one goal should be. We need to entertain first. It’s not about messages”he said Iger. On this point, Peltz commented: “People go to watch a movie or a show to have fun. They don’t go to get a message.”
