Disney announces the END of Star+

Disney announced this Thursday (28) that the Disney+ and the Star+ will come together on a single platform from the day June 26, 2024.

The merger of platforms will bring new subscription plans, which have not yet been detailed. Additionally, parental controls will be improved, allowing parents to personalize their children’s experience on the platform.

Among the parental control updates are:

  • Four-digit PIN: each profile can be protected with an individual PIN, restricting access to inappropriate content.
  • Delimiting title availability: parents can define which titles each profile can watch, based on the personalized age rating for each profile.
  • Password for creating new profiles: An additional password will be required to create new profiles, preventing children from doing so without authorization.

Remembering that the platform already offers the Junior Modewhich offers children’s profiles with limited access to content classified as appropriate for all ages.

The platform Star+ will be discontinued from July 24, 2024. Subscribers to Star+ will be automatically migrated to the new Disney+.

The new Disney+ will have a new section dedicated to adult content, called Star. This section will include titles from Searchlight, 20th Century Studios and FX, as well as original productions created entirely in Latin America.

So far, Disney has not released the values ​​or details of the new plans.

It is worth highlighting that the Star+ was created by Disney to include in its catalog productions considered more aimed at an adult audience, such as ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘The bear’, ‘Prison Break’ It is ‘American Horror Story’.
