Singer Shakira gave a surprising opinion about the blockbuster ‘Barbie’ (2023). The 47-year-old Colombian celebrity called the film “castrating” and said that her two children “absolutely hated” the film starring actress Margot Robbie.

Shakira expressed her feelings regarding the film directed by filmmaker Margot Robbie in the most recent issue of Allure magazine.

She first talked about how her two children, Milan (11 years old) and Sasha (9 years old), hated ‘Barbie’. According to Shakira, children would have been bothered by the supposed “castrating” content of the film, an assessment with which she said she “agreed in a certain aspect”.

Afterwards she stated: “I am raising two boys. I want both of them to also feel empowered by respecting women. I like pop culture as it tries to empower women without taking away from men their ability to be men, while also protecting and providing.”

Shakira’s two children are the result of her marriage to former Spanish football player Gerard Piqué, between 2011 and 2022.
