‘Strong violence’ and ‘brief full nudity’: sequel to “Joker” in theaters for adults only – News

“Joker: Folie à Deux” is not for teens and has received an R rating from the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

In the rating bulletin published this Wednesday in the USA, the association informs that the film, which hits theaters on October 3, is “rated R for some strong violence, language, some sexuality and brief complete nudity”.

This means that ‘under 17s require a parent or guardian’ to access the sessions.

The first film in 2019, also directed by Todd Phillips, obtained the same rating, which did not prevent it from grossing 1.079 billion dollars at the global box office (and without opening in China) before collecting dozens of awards, culminating in 11 nominations for the Oscars and two statuettes, Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Soundtrack.

In addition to Phoenix as Arthur Fleck / Joker, Lady Gaga appears as Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn, but the story centered on their obsessive and toxic relationship continues to be kept secret. The cast also includes Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz.

Variety revealed in March that it is a ‘musical sequel’ that integrates ‘at least’ 15 reinterpretations of well-known songs, including “That’s Entertainment”, but it is possible that one or two original songs will make it onto the soundtrack.

The Warner Bros. studio officially confirmed that the first trailer will be released on April 9th ​​(American date), but this Tuesday an audio recording of Lady Gaga’s character on TikTok appeared where you can hear ‘You can do whatever you want… you’re the Joker’.
