In an interview with Comic Book, Ryan Gosling revealed that the sequel to the comedy noirTwo Nice Guys‘ shouldn’t happen.

Despite being acclaimed in the American press, the comedy did not do well at the box office.

“The sequels are defined right on the opening weekend, and we open against Angry Birds. And Angry Birds just destroyed us. Angry Birds had a sequel.”, he stated.

The film only grossed US$62.7 million worldwide against a budget of US$50 million.

In 1970s Los Angeles, Amelia (Margaret Qualley – Palo Alto, the series The Leftovers), daughter of an employee of the United States Department of Justice (Kim Basinger – Third Person, I am Here) is kidnapped. She then decides to hire Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe), violent private detective and former alcoholic, to investigate the case.

The job turns out to be more complicated than expected and he decides to share the investigation with the clumsy Holland March (Ryan Gosling). Both discover that Amelia’s case and the death of a porn star are somehow related. They then come across a shocking conspiracy that reaches even the highest circles of power.

Shane Black directed and scripted.
