Against the dominant tendency to invent drawers to close films, seeking to reveal titles that would otherwise be reserved for one-off sessions, here is IndieLisboa coming forward, distributing four films shown in its latest edition in theaters, also seeking to whet the appetite for the 2024 festival, starting on May 23rd. Among them, the two main winners of the 2023 international competition: the Grand Prix A Safe Place, feature debut by Croatian Juraj Lerotic, winner of the parallel Filmmakers of the Future at Locarno 2022 (where he received best first work, best director and best actor); and the Jury Prize The Damby French-Lebanese Ali Cherri, from the 2022 Filmmakers’ Fortnight. It is joined by the opening film of 2023, Something You Said Last Nightby Canadian trans filmmaker Luis de Filippis, and Hereby Belgian Bas Devos, exhibited in the Silvestre section and winner of the parallel Encounters in Berlin 2023.
