A Netflix is about to take an ambitious step forward in its catalog of original productions with the upcoming adaptation in live-action in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ – which will feature none other than the Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig as director.
Now, according to the ComicBook.comrecording of the first chapter of the supposed saga should begin still this yearin between the end of the American summer and the beginning of fall.
No further information was revealed.
During an interview for BBC Radio 4 (via Deadline)Gerwig, who will also be responsible for the script for the adaptations, promised that she will give extra care to the works:
“As a non-British citizen, I have a particular feeling of wanting to get this right… It’s a bit like Americans adapting Shakespeare’s plays, there’s a slight feeling of reverence like maybe we should treat them [as adaptações] with extra care. It is not a material from our homeland [EUA] and we owe even more respect.”

In total, the franchise’s books have sold more than 100 million copies and have been translated into more than 47 languages worldwide.
