Disney released this Monday the first teaser trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King”, which hits Portuguese cinemas on December 19
Disney is betting heavily on this prequel that preserves the style of the photorealistic version of “The Lion King”, the great success that dominated cinemas in 2019, after recent box office disappointments with films such as “The Strange World”, “Lightyear”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Elemental” or “Wish: The Power of Wishes”.
“‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ enlists Rafiki to convey the legend of Mufasa to the young cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with the help of Timon and Pumbaa’s usual style. Told in ‘flashbacks,’ the story presents Mufasa as a orphan cub, lost and alone until he meets a friendly lion named Taka – the heir to a royal lineage. Directed by Oscar winner “Moonlight” Barry Jenkins, the new film features new characters and the return of other fan favorites, with the original voices of Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen Billy Eichner, Beyoncé and Donald Glover.
The artistic record also includes songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a soundtrack by Hans Zimmer with Pharrell Williams and Nicholas Britell.
