Walt Disney Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King, a film that promises to explore the origins of the beloved king of the Pride Lands. However, public reception is not the best, with the video on YouTube being bombarded with dislikes, raising questions about the reasons for this negative phenomenon.

Mufasa: The Lion King features Rafiki telling the legend of Mufasa to the young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa contributing their signature humor. Told in flashbacks, the story presents Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until she meets a friendly lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. This fortuitous encounter begins a vast journey of an extraordinary group of misfits in search of their destiny – their bonds will be tested as they work together to escape a threatening and deadly enemy.

The film, set to hit theaters on December 20, explores the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands. With a list of recognized talents bringing new and old characters to life, and with acclaimed composer Lin-Manuel Miranda writing the music for the film, produced by Mark Mancina and Miranda.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, produced by Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak, and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen, the film combines live-action filmmaking techniques with photorealistic computer graphics to create a unique cinematic experience.

What did you think of the trailer? Are there reasons for so much negativity?
