Doro Pesch’s opinion on Sepultura’s farewell and possible reunion with Max and Iggor

Sepultura is in the middle of its farewell tour, which has been named “Celebrating Life Through Death”. In an interview with Marcelo Vieira, Doro Pesch gave his opinion on the end of the Brazilian band and also spoke about what he thinks of a possible reunion of the group with former members Max and Iggor Cavalera.

Still on Brazilian metal, how did you react to the news of Sepultura’s departure from the stage?

Damn, man, it was a hit! It’s really sad. I hope this isn’t the end, often these “goodbyes” end up being temporary.

Do you believe it could be an opportunity for reconciliation with brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera and a possible reunion of the classic lineup for some shows?

It would be amazing, but I understand that there are differences of opinion in the band. Sometimes relationships don’t recover after disagreements. It would be great for the fans, but it might not be viable. You never know, as it is a delicate situation.

The end of Sepultura

During a press conference held in São Paulo in December 2023, Sepultura announced that they will cease activities after a long tour. The transcription is by Bruce William;

“Sepultura will stop. It will die. A conscious and planned death. Over the next 18 months, we will celebrate 40 years with our fans on a farewell tour that will travel across the planet. Celebrate above all the present, today A very special moment in our rich and successful career.

After 40 years of ups and downs, 80 countries visited from different cultures, with different political and religious views, taking Brazilian colors and rhythms to the world, showing a Brazil that is more realistic and less caricatured, heavier and more aggressive.

After releasing ‘Quadra’, one of the best albums in our history. Surviving an undesirable and insane Pandemic through SepulQuarta, a wonderful experience that became an album and that kept us united and strong moving forward. After changes and learning, we will stop.

The 40th anniversary tour is being recorded and will become a live album with 40 songs recorded in 40 different cities at a time when we have the highest energy on stage. Union and total connection. We are happy and very grateful with everything that happened in our history, we made great albums and shows, cultivated friendships, met our idols, helped put Brazilian metal on the world map and, now, we leave the scene with a feeling of duty accomplished.”
