“Today Chega assumes himself as the leader of the opposition”, stated André Ventura in reaction to the agreement between PSD and PS to share the presidency of the Assembly of the Republic.
“I think it became clear today. Chega will play its role in leading the opposition. We had open doors until the moment PSD chose your company. Today, that choice was clear. The PSD will form a coalition with the PS. The PS will give a hand to the PSD”, he stressed.
“Having reached an agreement between PS and PSD, it seems clear that there will only be one party that will oppose it. What will arrive”, he stressed.
“The PSD chose who to truly make its agreements with”, stated André Ventura, who recalls the agreements between Chega and the PSD that were not executed.
Ventura also revealed that he had scheduled a meeting with the PSD leader to try to “overcome this impasse to the right. The president of the PSD chose not to hold this meeting with me, and to hold it with the leader of the Socialist Party.”
“Chega was available to talk to reach a convergence to the right. I think it is clear, and this is perhaps the most relevant news of today, that the PSD has decided to form an alliance, more or less informal, with the Socialist Party”, he accused.
For the leader of Chega, “this agreement shows, in all probability, that what will happen in this legislature is that PSD and PS will understand. And now it is clear that they will also agree on a State Budget”.
