The Chinese technology company obtained a market share of 17% compared to the 10% it controlled in the same period last year, reveals a report from Canalys.

Huawei sold 11.7 million smartphones in China in the first quarter of this year. This is a growth of 70% compared to 2023, which allows the Chinese company to overtake Apple in the cell phone market in China and achieve leadership in that Asian country.

More specifically, Huawei obtained a market share of 17% compared to the 10% it controlled in the same period last year, reveals a report from Canalys, published at the end of this week, which also shows that Chinese companies Oppo and Honor appear next in the list.

The first reduced its sales by 14%, but managed to maintain a market share of 16%. This is the same market share that Honor holds, although it has increased its sales by 9%.

The company that records the worst result is Apple. The North American giant sold 10 million cell phones, which represents a 25% drop compared to the previous year. Thus, Tim Cook’s company, which dominated the Chinese market with a 20% market share, now has a 15% market share.
