The situation led to an exchange of communications between the two communities in the municipality of Baião.

The alleged acts of vandalism were committed on Sunday, at the end of the game between the two teams for the respective under-15 district football championship of the Porto Football Association, which ended in a 1-1 draw. “When everything seemed normal, something unexpected and very serious happened. After the opposing team abandoned our facilities, we found our locker room completely vandalized”, reported the management of AD Ancede.

The management of AD Baião, alerted by Ancede’s counterpart, admitted that this was “a deplorable attitude that in no way reflects the ethical and sporting values of the Associação Desportiva de Baião”, but refuses to place its young footballers “in the stocks and whipped. No. They will be held responsible, that is. Anyone who didn’t commit crime at the age of 14/15 will certainly not be a great adult. Whoever didn’t make a mistake at the age of 14/15, should cast the first stone”, concludes the management of AD Baião, after “assuming all responsibility”, guaranteeing that “it will not be limited to compensating for losses, holding criminal athletes and punishing them internally.”

Before AD Baião’s statement, made public in the early afternoon of this Wednesday, four days after the incidents, AD Ancede had already expressed its “perplexity” at the rival club’s silence. “We expected, at the very least, a firm position repudiating such an act. Sad, but in defense of the interests of our Association [Ancede]we will take the necessary measures, so that this type of behavior does not happen again”, can be read in the communication from the Ancede club.
