Cristiano Ronaldo remains unstoppable at 39 years old. After scoring three goals in Al Nassr’s triumph over Al Tai (5-1), on Saturday, the Portuguese forward has now scored 26 goals in the Saudi championship, four more than Aleksandar Mitrovic (Al Hilal) and is looking to assert himself as the league’s top scorer, with nine games remaining until the end of the competition.

Being the top scorer in the Saudi Arabian championship allows him to enter history as the first player to be top scorer in four different leagues, after having stood out in England with Manchester United (31 goals in 2007/08), in Spain with Real Madrid (40 goals in 2010/11; 31 in 2013/14; 48 in 2014/15) and in Italy for Juventus (29 goals in 2020/21).

In fact, no player had managed to be the top scorer in three of the five main European leagues, something that Cristiano Ronaldo achieved and makes him a serious case in the history of football. Not even his age seems to stop him from adding record after record. The Portuguese may have the advantage of Mitrovic being injured in Al Hilal’s last game and having to face an absence from the field for a few weeks, which opens up space for him to be the top scorer in the Saudi championship.

In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suárez was also the top scorer in three different championships, being top scorer in the Netherlands in 2009/10, in England in 2013/14 and in Spain in 2015/16. At the moment, the Uruguayan striker is playing for Inter Miami, in the United States, but has only scored five goals in seven league matches and is far from being a threat to the Portuguese, in pursuit of the fourth league as the best scorer.

This list also includes Lewandowski, Romário, Amoroso, Van Nistelrooy and Sonny Anderson, who were the top scorers in three different championships.
