Measures approved at the Extraordinary General Assembly

This Tuesday, Liga Portugal approved several measures at an Extraordinary General Assembly, such as increasing the penalty for clubs with unpaid salaries.

«The increase in penalties for Sports Societies that fail salary controls throughout the sports season (September, December, March and May) was unanimously approved. The sanction will now be a subtraction of between five and eight points, whereas until now it was two to five points”, says the League, in a statement.

For “transparent management” of Sports Societies, “the reinforcement of the sanctioning framework in the case of non-compliance with obligations in corporate matters was approved, namely articles referring to the guarantee of suitability, the reinforcement of incompatibilities and the increase in the transparency of information and advertising of Sports Societies».

«Articles that toughen penalties for Sports Societies that do not have their tax/contribution situation regularized were also approved», the statement also adds.

The Extraordinary General Assembly also approved, «unanimously, the maintenance of the sanctioning regime applied to combat unsportsmanlike behavior», such as corruption, match-fixing and sports betting.
