“SWe met with three of the main banks in the world and they all showed interest in working with FC Porto to renegotiate the debt”, said André Villas-Boas, in an interview with Lusa, this Tuesday. On another occasion, in statements to the newspaper O Jogo, the candidate for president of FC Porto said he reached agreements with Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan at rates of around 5%.
João Rafael Koehler, candidate for vice-president of FC Porto, on the Pinto da Costa list, used social media to question the veracity of this information, calling these agreements a “miracle contract”.
“André Villas Boas declared this week to the newspaper O Jogo that he can refinance the club with Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan at rates of around 5%. I suppose the candidate is not irresponsible to the point of saying this without having a contract with these banks that effectively allows this type of fee”, he began by saying.
“I would like to challenge André to come to Dragão today to bring his ‘miracle contract’ with Goldman Sachs and help resolve the club’s financial challenges, unless these are imaginary contracts and another stream of lies. I don’t want to believe it for a candidate for President to cast suspicion on the club’s financiers and lie about the financial solutions he claims to have”, wrote Koehler.
He ends by saying: “André, I’ll be waiting for you all afternoon at Dragão. Today you have the chance to prove that you can be taken seriously.”
