Just when it seemed that the tension within Red Bull had calmed down, ‘Auto Motor und Sport’ releases news that, if confirmed, will cause a real earthquake in the world of Formula 1. According to the German publication, Adrian Newey will have informed Red Bull of his decision to leave the Austrian team later this year, with it being quite likely that his future will involve Ferrari in 2025.

Considered one of the main responsible for Red Bull’s success since its entry into Formula 1, Newey is “dissatisfied with the power struggle within the team”, aggravated by the tension that was created by the controversy involving Christian Horner, which exposed the egos within the Austrian formation.

With a contract until the end of 2025 with Red Bull, Newey would have to reach an agreement to leave, and then head to the aforementioned Ferrari, which in 2025 will have Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc as drivers. Other possible destinations for the so-called ‘aerodynamic guru’ are Mercedes or Aston Martin, the latter of which even presented a high-value offer at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

One thing seems clear: Newey’s departure from the structure he arrived at in 2006 to transform, forever, the face of Formula 1 has never been so close.
