Espérance de Tunis, led by Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso, secured their presence in the Club World Cup and is a finalist in the African Champions League.

The Tunisian team beat the South African Sundowns 1-0 this Friday (repeating the result of the first leg, at home), and will decide the title of continental champion against Al Ahly, who in the other semi-final received and beat Mazembe today in Cairo, 3-0 (after a draw in the first leg, in Congo).

Al Ahly, Espérance, Sundowns (the semi-finalist eliminated with the best coefficient) and Wydad Casablanca (winner of the 2021/22 Champions League) are the African qualifiers for the Club World Cup, which will have 32 teams qualifying, including Benfica and FC Porto, and takes place between June and July 2025, in the United States.

Miguel Cardoso will now try to win the continental title, a feat only achieved by a Portuguese coach: Manuel José, who, working for Al Ahly, was African champion three times, in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

The first leg of the final will be played on May 18th, in Tunis, and a week later, on May 25th, the decisive duel will be played in Cairo.
