AliExpress, Shein and more: states want to increase ICMS to 25% on Conformal Shipping

States must increase the ICMS rate from 17% to 25% within the Remessa Compliance program. The matter is already being debated within the National Committee of State Finance Secretaries (Comsefaz).

A technician from the Ministry of Finance said that many states liked the “extra revenue” that Remessa Como has provided, since they have collected a monthly average of R$160 million.

For now, everything remains in the realm of rumors, but there are those who say that the states will help the government, as retailers have been pushing for the end of the federal exemption for purchases under US$50.

As all imports pay ICMS, raising the rate is enough so that the government does not need to tax these low-value purchases.

On another front, the Federal Revenue will take advantage of the fact that all imports are now being declared to combat pirated products.

To achieve this, the federal agency will establish a partnership with inmetro, Anatel and Anvisa.

Netflix would be prohibiting account sharing on cell phones and tablets, in addition to TV

After blocking access to shared accounts on TV, Netflix appears to have started restricting the use of the same account in different homes. According to reports from several users on social media, the streaming platform would have started to apply the restriction on mobile devices, including cell phones and tablets.

In practice, the service would be expanding its “Netflix residence” policy, which sets up a main home internet network to access the service on TV. Any user outside of this network may lose access to the account.

In other words, the user experience should worsen, since the block may limit the mobility of people who are logged into an account, but do not live or frequent the main residence.

You can still access the content by obtaining a temporary access code, as if you were traveling, but it is only valid for 15 days. For now, Netflix has not commented on the matter.

Apple asks users not to sleep close to the iPhone while charging

Apple now clearly advises iPhone users not to sleep near their smartphone while it is charging.

According to Apple, the device, cable or charger can heat up and irritate or even injure the skin if kept in contact with it for a long period.

Furthermore, Apple also warns that keeping the iPhone under the pillow while charging is dangerous and not recommended.

Another tip from the company is to always leave the smartphone with the screen facing up while charging and, if possible, it needs to be in a ventilated area.

These recommendations may seem obvious, but many people still sleep with their smartphone on the bed. The practice can end up resulting in serious accidents.

Apple iPhone SE 4 should depreciate very quickly after launch

In a report released this week, a company that monitors the used cell phone market revealed that the iPhone SE 4 may have some important new features, but it should depreciate a lot after launch.

The data shows that the third-generation iPhone SE, launched in March 2022, depreciated 42.6% in the first month after launch in the United States.

On the other hand, the iPhone 13 lost just 18.7% in value over the same period. The reason for this is that Apple users see the SE line as an entry-level option.

Still, this devaluation can be celebrated by those who want to leave Android, since the iPhone SE 4 should have a 6.1-inch OLED screen, Face ID, USB-C port, action button and Apple A16 Bionic chip, in addition of native iOS 18.

Xiaomi cell phones lose one of the most useful functions for YouTube

To the sadness of many, Xiaomi has started to disable the MIUI and HyperOS feature that allows YouTube videos to continue playing while the smartphone’s screen is off.

The change was confirmed on the company’s official Telegram channel, and the company warns that the “play with the screen off” function will no longer work on old devices, even if it is still shown in the menu.

Even though the Chinese giant does not give a reason for this change, everything indicates that there is some pressure from Google. This is because the function of playing videos with the screen off is an exclusive feature for YouTube Premium subscribers.
