Intuitive Surgical announced the CE certification approval for the Da Vinci SP surgical system, which can now be used in Europeaimed at improving the precision and flexibility of surgical interventions, performing complex minimally invasive procedures through a single incision.
The Da Vinci SP robotic system allows complex surgeries to be performed through a single incision, or natural access, integrating technology with 3D vision and advanced control to optimize precision in the operating room.
Among the benefits of using the system is the reducing recovery, healing and hospital stay times for patients, as well as providing professionals with “cutting-edge instruments to improve surgical results”points out Excelência Robótica, a Portuguese company that operates in the national market to distribute the Da Vinci robotic system, in a statement.

With “improved precision, flexible instrumentation and an innovative design that facilitates access and visibility in complex surgical areas”, the Da Vinci SP joins existing Da Vinci X and Xi robotic systems.
With certification, The implementation of Da Vinci SP in Europe is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024, with Portugal among the markets covered.
