Eight sea bars on the continent are closed this Saturday and three are closed due to strong sea agitation, with the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issuing orange and yellow warnings for 10 districts due to swell.

According to the National Maritime Authority and the Portuguese Navy, the bars of Caminha, Douro, Esposende, Vila Praia de Âncora, Póvoa do Varzim, Vila do Conde, Portinho da Ericeira and São Martinho do Porto are closed to navigation.

The bars in Aveiro and Figueira da Foz are already restricted (closed to vessels of less than 35 meters in length) and Viana do Castelo (closed to vessels of less than 12 meters in length).

The IPMA placed this Saturday, until 03:00 on Sunday, the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto and Viana do Castelo under orange warning due to sea unrest, with northwest waves of five to six expected. meters, reaching a maximum height of 10 meters. The warning then turns yellow until 12:00 on Sunday.

This Saturday, until 12:00 on Sunday, the districts of Beja, Faro and Setúbal are under yellow warning, also due to maritime unrest.

The IPMA also placed under orange warning, but due to snowfall, the districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda, between 09:00 and 21:00 today, while Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Coimbra, Porto, Viana do Castelo , Vila Real and Viseu are under yellow warning from 12:00 today until 09:00 on Sunday.

The forecast of strong wind, with gusts of up to 75 kilometers/hour, also led the IPMA to issue a yellow warning for the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Guarda, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Viseu.

In Aveiro, Braga, Bragança, Coimbra, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Viseu this warning is in force until 3pm today, while in Castelo Branco and Guarda it lasts until 6pm. Leiria and Lisbon are under yellow warning due to wind from 12:00 until 18:00.

The orange warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high risk meteorological situation” and the yellow warning when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
