Oworkers on platforms Glovo, Uber, Bolt and others will be on strike this Friday, March 22nd, between 6pm and midnight. The aim of the strike is demand better working conditions.
This strike, which will last around six hours, was organized through a WhatsApp group called ‘Estafetas Unidos’, which brings together more than a thousand workers from across the country.
This is the second strike in a few weeks, after these workers went on strike on February 23, when the first widespread suspension of this activity was recorded.
In the WhatsApp group where the strike was organized, a list of demands was shared, including a guaranteed minimum payment of three euros for any delivery, in addition to an additional 50 cents for each kilometer traveled over distances of 2 to 4, 9 kilometers away and an extra euro per kilometer from 5 kilometers away.
Five years after the law regulating electronic transport platforms came into force, the most recent data reveals that there are more than 66 thousand certified drivers, a number that more than tripled considering those operating at the end of 2018.
In relation to TVDE platform operators (individual and paid transport of passengers in uncharacterized vehicles using an electronic platform), there are 13 licensees, according to IMT data from September 25th, although at the moment only two operate: Uber , the pioneer in Portugal, since 2014, and Bolt (which when it started its activity in 2018 was called Taxify).
