The indictment is for the death of Íris Martins, who had liposuction on May 8 last year in Divinópolis. At the time, she suffered two cardiorespiratory arrests after the procedure carried out by the biomedical doctor and was taken to the São João de Deus Health Complex, where she could not resist and subsequently died.

During this period when she was free, Lorena dedicated herself to creating her own line of cosmetics and, since then, she started selling the items online. She also entered the world of women’s fashion and started selling clothes, also online.

To g1, lawyer Tiago Lenoir informed that he filed Habeas Corpus as soon as he learned of the arrest of the person being investigated, this Friday.

“The defense of biomedical doctor Lorena Marcondes, upon learning of the arrest, immediately filed a habeas corpus petition before the Court of Justice. We emphasize that the biomedical doctor was awaiting the conclusion of the investigation in freedom, and since the beginning of the investigations, she has fully collaborated with the competent authorities We trust in justice and are convinced that the truth will prevail, restoring the reputation and freedom of Lorena Marcondes”

At the time of the indictment, in October last year, the responsible delegate, Marcelo Nunes, reported that two qualifiers were found that corroborate the biomedical’s homicide indictment.

“Bad reason, as it only aimed at profit. Another qualifier, called treason, because she deceives her patients, saying it was a non-invasive procedure. Only 12 incisions were found on Iris’ body.”

Also on that occasion, the biomedical lawyer, Tiago Lenoir, highlighted that he received “with some surprise this indictment from the Civil Police for possible intent, for intentional homicide”.

He also said that the “investigation was carried out on a whim” and that it would prove Lorena’s innocence.

During the investigation, no specific documentation was found in the biomedical doctor’s office to carry out the procedure that Iris was undergoing.

Expert Paula Lamounier said that, in the clinic, below a stretcher, inside a bucket, there were several items that were unclear as to whether they had been used in the procedure.

The materials were collected and after evaluation, traces of Iris’ blood and body fluids were detected, proving that those materials had been used in the procedure.

According to delegate Marcelo Nunes, biomedical doctor Lorena Marcondes acted as if she were two doctors.

“He injected an absurd amount of anesthetic that caused the patient to become intoxicated, he acted as if he were an anesthesiologist. She made deep incisions that caused severe bleeding. Not just any doctor does this type of procedure. She was so severely attacked that she died.”

The regional Civil Police delegate, Flávio Tadeu Destro, stated that the entire crime scene was altered by the clinic’s employees, with the intention of hiding evidence and materials that could be used for investigations.

“We have images of clinic employees leaving the site with black bags taken from the clinic to be hidden, hiding evidence. We have images of vehicles entering the parking lot to collect these materials. There is no doubt about the crime”, ️concluded.

Regarding the clinic’s employees, the police chief explained that the biomedical assistant, Ariele Cristina de Almeida Cardoso, will be charged with simple murder.

Another professional, who also acted as a biomedical assistant in the procedure, will also be charged with simple homicide. Her full name was not released.

The other employees of the clinic will be charged with procedural fraud. The names were not disclosed.
