Anyone thinking about buying an Easter egg should be very careful.
A survey carried out by Procon de Pernambuco shows a difference of up to 89% in the prices of these chocolates.
The survey was carried out between March 18th and 22nd.
37 types, of different brands and sizes, were researched, as well as three types of chocolate boxes, in 11 establishments in Recife.
Examples
Procon pointed out that a Unicorn egg, from the Arcor brand, weighing 100 grams, which comes with a free slime, was the one that showed the biggest price variation: 89.08%.
It can cost R$65.99, at its highest price, and R$34.90, at its lowest.
BIS, with 318 grams, from Lacta, was the egg that showed the second largest variation.
It was found for R$80.85, at its highest price, and at R$49.90, at its lowest price.
This represents a difference of 62.02%.
In third place, with 55.51%, is the Diamante Negro egg, weighing 300 grams, from Lacta.
It was found at its highest price, for R$80.85, and at its lowest price, for R$51.99.
Boxes
The research also included chocolate boxes which, in addition to the variety of flavors, were also targeted by the price variety.
Nestlé’s Specialty Box of Chocolates, weighing 251 grams, appears in the survey with a variation of 46.70%.
It was found, at its lowest price, for R$10.90 and, at its highest price, for R$15.99.
The same variation was identified for the Garotices Candy Box, with 250 grams, from Garoto, which was found for R$10.90, at its lowest price, and for R$15.99, at its highest price.
The Box of Favorite Chocolates, with 250 grams, from Lacta, was found for R$ 10.99, at its lowest price and, at its highest, for R$ 15.79.
Analysis
“Unlike the work we carry out, monthly, with basic food basket research, this Easter Egg research is fundamental, as Easter only happens once a year. Our research gives consumers the opportunity to guarantee the lowest price when buying a sweet souvenir, paying less”, commented the Inspection Manager, Procon-PE, Liliane Amaral.
