Part of a bridge collapsed in Baltimore, United States, after a boat collided with the structure in the early hours of Tuesday (26th). Around seven vehicles ended up falling into the water.
A person is seriously injured after being injured. She was found in the water and is in an area hospital. Another person was rescued and is doing well.
According to the Baltimore Fire Department, at least six people are missing. Wiedefeld said eight people fell in the collapse. They were all part of the construction team that filled holes.

Bridge collapses in United States after cargo ship collides
A 29-meter cargo ship reportedly caught fire and collided with part of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. This was according to Matthew West, first class petty officer at the Coast Guard in Baltimore, in an interview with the New York Times. The Francis Scott is the longest bridge in Baltimore, at two miles, and was opened in 1977.
In response to journalists, the Wes Moore government stated that the bridge was in accordance with regulations and that the collapse was not due to a structural problem.
The ship that hit the bridge is from Singapore and had stopped at the local port before heading to Sri Lanka.
Due to the case, the governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, declared a state of emergency in an official statement. He said that he is looking for a quick mobilization of federal resources from the federal government. “We will remain in close contact with federal, state and local entities conducting rescue efforts as we continue to assess and respond to this tragedy,” he said.
According to the region’s transport authority, all lanes were closed near the scene of the incident.
The Baltimore Police Commissioner said there is no indication the ship struck the bridge intentionally. All signs then point to an accident.

In a statement, the White House said it was following the case closely and was “heartbroken” for the families of those missing after the accident.
FBI guarantees that case was not terrorism
In a note published on social media, the FBI in Baltimore assured that the case was not the result of terrorism. In a text on X, formerly Twitter, it is said that “there is no specific and credible information to suggest any links to terrorism at this time.”
Despite this, investigations remain ongoing.

Francis Scott Key was a poet from the United States who lived between 1779 and 1843. He was born in the Maryland region, in Caroll County, and died in Baltimore. He is considered the author of the current anthem of the United States.
He also worked as a lawyer for part of his career, including the Burr conspiracy, in which Aaron Burr Jr. was considered a suspect in trying to create an independent country.
