The Xiaomi SU7 marks the cell phone manufacturer’s debut in the electric car market. Five months after the presentation and release of the first details of Xiaomi’s electric car, the company’s executive president, Lei Jun, released a preview of the expected prices for the Chinese market.

Through the Weibo platform, Jun said he hopes Xiaomi’s car will be recognized as the “most beautiful, easiest to drive and smartest car” on sale for less than 500,000 yuan, which is equivalent to R$343,902. In reality in the Chinese market, this represents half the price of a Porsche Taycan – a car they consider a competitor – whose prices start at more than 900,000 yuan (approximately R$618,000).
