ERSE proposes a 6.9% increase in the price of natural gas for families in the regulated market

The proposal for natural gas tariffs and prices, which is now submitted to the Tariff Council (CT), is for the period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.

ESRE proposes a 6.9% increase in the price of natural gas from October 1st, which represents increases between 87 cents and 1.66 euros for the two most representative types of domestic customers.

In a statement, the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) explains that this increase in the regulated market is essentially justified by the increase in network access tariffs in the gas year 2024-2025, “due to the decrease in demand for gas in the national market, which which results in a unit increase in infrastructure costs”.

The proposal for natural gas tariffs and prices, which is now submitted to the Tariff Council (CT), is for the period from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.

The CT must issue an opinion on the proposal by April 30th, with ERSE taking the final decision by June 1st.

The approximately 444 thousand consumers who remained, at the end of January 2024, with the supplier of last resort are subject to these variations.

With this proposal, sales prices to end customers in the regulated market will observe, in five years, an average annual variation of over 3.3% in the final price.
