A peaceful demonstration took place at Afonso Pena International Airport, in São José dos Pinhais, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (RMC), this Saturday morning (27). In addition to showing support for João Fantazzini, owner of the dog Joca, who died while being transported from São Paulo to Mato Grosso, the group also called for the transport of animals on planes to be reviewed in Brazil.

In total, around 100 people participated in the demonstration, which took over the main hall of the airport. In addition to Curitiba, the same act was carried out in seven other cities across Brazil, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Natal and Salvador.

Senacon (National Consumer Secretariat), of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, notified Gol Linhas Aérea SA on Tuesday (23) so that the company could provide clarification on the report of Joca’s death.

Despite this, the movement also demands that the transport of animals on planes throughout Brazil be reviewed.

“It’s a movement, a demonstration, so that there is a resolution from Anac or a decree so that it does not leave it up to the companies to decide how the animals will be transported. Transporting animals in a compartment is unhealthy”

said protector Thiago Taffarel, who participated in the demonstration.

According to Thiago Taffarel, who works in the animal cause, animals should be transported with their owners.

“But it’s not enough to just change the law, employees and companies have to be prepared for this change too.”

The month of April is marked by “orange April”, which is the month of prevention against animal cruelty. The group took advantage of what happened to show that it depends on everyone to care for the cause.

“It is important that this campaign continues so that new lives are not lost in this way. That the transport of animals is changed.”
