Xiaomi SUV7. The anti-Taycan that is announced at half price

-

The first electric car from Chinese technology company Xiaomi, SU7, costs half as much as the Porsche Taycan, and is available in versions with one or two electric motors, which develop powers of 295 hp and 664 hp, respectively.

Chinese technology company Xiaomi managed to do what Apple never managed and developed an electric vehicle that should soon reach the Chinese market. The SU7 saloon was presented five months ago and now the prices have been revealed, which are quite competitive and must have made some competitors quite nervous.

In a recent post on the social network Weibo, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun wrote that he wants the SU7 to be the “best looking, easiest to drive car” available for less than 64 thousand euros (500 thousand yuan).

Despite this price “destroying” the competition in Europe, electric vehicles continue to be heavily subsidized in China and are substantially cheaper than in the rest of the world. The BYD Seal, for example, is available from 23,048 euros (179,800 yuan).

Production at the BAIC factory

The 500,000 yuan price positioning puts the SU7 on the same level as the Nio ET7 saloon, which also starts at the same price. Furthermore, it is substantially cheaper than the imported Porsche Taycan, which is offered in China for between 115,343 euros (900,000 yuan) and 179,000 euros (1.4 million yuan).

The entry-level version of the SU7 is equipped with an electric motor on the rear axle that develops a power of 295 hp and a torque of 400 Nm, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.28 seconds.
