Rio – The Fire Department continues to search for young William Bandeira de Menezes, aged 23, who disappeared after falling into the sea in São Conrado, in the South Zone of Rio. Major Fábio Contreiras, spokesman for the corporation, said, on afternoon of this Monday (1), that the search takes place without pause and must continue until the victim is found.

Also according to the military, firefighters work with the help of drones, helicopters, jet skis and boats near the scene of the disappearance.

“The Fire Department continues to search for the young man who disappeared at sea after falling off the coast of São Conrado on Sunday morning. The corporation is engaging several divers close to the original place of disappearance, as well as drones and helicopters to scan the entire coast and on the beaches that are close to the accident site. We are also employing several vessels and watercraft with lifeguards, mainly carrying out surface searches, totaling more than 20 military firefighters in this operation. The searches continue with full force, day and night and with no expected end date, so that we can find the missing victim as soon as possible”, explained Contreiras.

On Sunday, the man fell near the first tunnel on the Lagoa-Barra Highway, in São Conrado, at around 10:20 am.
