In Brazil and around the world, the operating costs of tissue manufacturers have increased recently, due to several global macroeconomic challenges, with emphasis on the resumption of rising cellulose prices. Given this scenario, The Navigator Company, a Portuguese paper and cellulose industry and one of the main tissue paper producers in the country, announced an increase of between 8% and 10% in tissue prices in all markets where it operates.

The company, which has a significant number of Brazilians working in its operations, announced the adjustment this Wednesday, the 24th, with the aim of mitigating production costs. According to a statement from Navigator, the adjustment will be in effect from the month of May.

According to the company, the decision was made taking into account the context mainly of the increase in cellulose since August 2023, the main cost for the company’s tissue production. In this sense, the reference price of the raw material has risen 65% since August, and there has already been another announcement of an adjustment to the commodity for May, adding another 10% to the current price.

Therefore, Navigator stated that the measure is essential to guarantee the long-term sustainability of its business model and the financial balance of the global supply chain, together with its customers and suppliers. The company also highlighted that it will continue to reinforce its value proposition in several dimensions, such as the high quality of its products, services and innovations.
