Olivia Tape was walking through small rocky ‘lakes’ on a popular beach in Port Macquarie, in northern New South Wales, Australia, when she came across something unexpected. Hidden among the rocks was a small rectangular object covered in coral and sea vegetation.
“I took my daughter and her best friend for a swim and the tide was very low, so there were a lot of rocks visible,” said Tape, quoted by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
However, while they were looking at the rocks, looking for beautiful shells, they came across something unusual in the water. “I thought it was a case, since it was open… I picked it up and saw it was a wallet,” she described.
“It had a lot of pink and green seagrass and some small shells that started to grow on it… it was really beautiful, it looks like a little ocean garden”, he highlighted.
Additionally, the wallet, which was found at the south end of Shelly Beach, still contained some cards that revealed it was at least 16 years old.
“It took me a while to get one of the cards… I saw that I had a driving license and I laughed when I realized that it had expired in 2008”, reported the woman.
A local man later came forward to claim the license after Tape made an appeal on social media. “He said he would like to have a saltwater aquarium to store it… it’s a work of art, nature always wins,” said the woman.
