The SIC commentator and former president of the PSD anticipates that André Ventura’s party could achieve great results in the emigration circle and that this performance could prevent the re-election of Augusto Santos Silva. “In recent years he has been provoking and censoring Chega and this is similar to revenge”, he emphasizes.

Luís Marques Mendes, SIC commentator, this Sunday anticipated two surprises for the result of the emigrants’ votes, the outcome of which should be known this Wednesday: the rise in votes for Chega and the likely non-election of Augusto Santos Silva by the circle outside the Europe.

In the comment space on SIC, the former president of the PSD anticipates the strong growth in voting for the party led by André Ventura: “Chega may have a very strong vote in the emigration circle, perhaps even stronger in proportion to what it had in national territory”, anticipates the commentator.

Justifying this eventual growth of the third party with the highest volume of votes in the last legislative elections, Marques Mendes emphasizes that “Chega has great strength among voters in Brazil because the Bolsonaro family was campaigning for André Ventura. In Europe, we can expect a very significant vote from Portuguese emigrants in Switzerland”.

On the other hand, highlights Marques Mendes, the second big surprise on Wednesday could be the non-election of Augusto Santos Silva by the circle outside Europe: “There is a serious risk of not being elected”, he highlights.

“There is a strong probability of this happening, which on the one hand would be unprecedented and ironic. It has never happened that the second figure in the State is not elected and that this situation happens a lot due to the votes for Chega. It’s ironic because Augusto Santos Silva has been provoking and censoring Chega in recent years and this is similar to a revenge”, concluded the commentator.
