The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said the MV Dali, which has flown in Singapore since 2016, was classified as “ClassNK” and had valid certificates covering “the structural integrity of the ship and the functionality of its equipment”, according to a communicated.

During the June inspection, the container ship had a damaged bunker pressure monitor, but it was repaired, and a new assessment of the vessel is scheduled for June this year.

The Port Authority of Singapore said on Tuesday that it is in contact with the US Coast Guard to “provide the necessary assistance”, indicating that it will also open its own investigation into the accident.

Singapore’s Synergy Group, which operates the Dali, also confirmed on Tuesday that none of the ship’s 22 crew members were injured and said it was working with authorities to determine the cause of the accident.

The “exact cause” of the ship’s collision with one of the pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, in the North American city in the eastern United States, had not yet been determined. The collision caused the infrastructure to collapse at 1:30 am on Tuesday (5:30 am in Lisbon).

Before the collision, the container ship’s crew issued a warning that it was adrift, allowing authorities to cut off traffic on the bridge and prevent a greater tragedy.

After searching the waters for survivors, the US Coast Guard indicated that, taking into account the time and temperature, it considered the six missing to be dead.

The blockage of the port of Baltimore, caused by the collapse of the bridge, is expected to have serious economic consequences for the region. US President Joe Biden has promised to rebuild the bridge as quickly as possible.

The Port of Baltimore is the ninth largest port in the US in terms of value and foreign cargo handled. It employs more than 15 thousand people directly and almost 140 thousand indirectly.
