A Boeing 777 from the company LATAM Brasil, coming from São Paulo and destined for London, had to land at Porto Airport, due to a malfunction in one of the two engines, with passengers being transferred to other flights.

In a statement sent to the Lusa agency, LATAM Brasil says that the plane, which took off from São Paulo (Guarulhos) to London (Heathrow), landed at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto, “due to the need for unscheduled maintenance”, without mention that it was a failure in one of the engines, information that Lusa confirmed with aeronautical sources.

The airline said that the landing of the Boeing 777, with capacity for more than 300 passengers, “was carried out in complete safety”, in the early afternoon of this Wednesday.

“LATAM regrets the inconvenience caused and is providing full assistance to passengers, who will be re-accommodated on other flights to their destinations. The company also reinforces that it adopts all technical and operational security measures to guarantee a safe journey for everyone” , highlights LATAM Brasil.

As a consequence, the flight that was scheduled for this Wednesday between London/Heathrow – São Paulo/Guarulhos “had to be cancelled”, the statement also reads.
