“Islamic Resistance fighters attacked the settlement of Gesher Haziv, near Nahariyya, at 7:35 p.m. [17:35 em Lisboa] this Tuesday, with a load of ‘Katyusha’ type rockets”, said the Lebanese armed movement in a brief statement.
According to the note, this is a response to Israeli actions against villages in southern Lebanon, especially the one that injured a woman today in the border village of Yarin.
The Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) reported that a woman identified as Alia Abdel Karim was seriously injured in an attack carried out by Israel against that location.
The attack on Gesher Haziv is the fifth claimed by Hezbollah today, as well as the largest, after the formation had already announced several actions with missiles, rockets or artillery against military posts and groups of soldiers in northern Israel.
The offensive comes amid fears of a regional escalation of the bombing blamed on Israel that on Monday destroyed the Iranian consulate in Damascus and killed seven members of the Revolutionary Guard, as well as six Syrians, according to Tehran’s latest report.
Hezbollah, a close ally of Iran, and Israel have been involved in intense border clashes since October 8, the day after war broke out in the Gaza Strip between Tel Aviv forces and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
