Which MEP or party is closest to your political position? There is a questionnaire to help you decide

-

With the European elections less than two months away and the list heads of the main parties decided, voters are beginning to reflect on who they should vote for on June 9th. To help those who are undecided (or for those who are curious to find out whether their voting intention corresponds to the result), there is a questionnaire that identifies which MEP, national party and European political group most correspond to the political opinions of those who respond.

The EuroMPmatch survey consists of 20 questions on topics that play an important role in the European Parliament, such as the European Green Deal, regulation on Artificial Intelligence or support for Ukraine. On each question, it is possible to vote for, against or abstain and classify each issue according to relevance: high, medium or low. If there are doubts about the topic covered, there is a ‘more info’ button, which explains the context of the topic in question. It is these two dimensions that will dictate the party or MEP that the voter is closest to, among those currently represented in the European Parliament.

EuroMPmatch was created by Doru Frantescu, director of EUmatrix, a research platform focused on the European Union, and Simon Hix, professor of Comparative Politics at the European University Institute of Florence, with the assistance of Lorenzo Cicchi, coordinator of the Governance and Politics Program European University Institute, and Stefano Brocchi, web designer.

The questionnaire is part of the ‘Platform for Mobilization and Participation in the 2024 European Elections’ (EUROHUB24), which aims to disseminate information about the 2024 European elections to the public. It is funded by the EU and a grant from the Open Society foundation.
