We went to see, with our own hands, Renault’s new electric car, which is positioned as one of the best, offering a range of over 600 km. Directly and without resorting to linguistic gems, the car is really good. In fact, the 100% electric Scenic E-Tech proved to us that it deserves the title “Car of the Year 2024”.
Sometimes, taking two steps back is to gain momentum
Using history, taking two steps back is not always synonymous with retreating. Renault, for example, allowed it to launch the presentation of this new tram.
In 1996, the Scenic revolutionized the market by positioning itself as the first compact MPV (minivan) in European automotive history. Under the motto “Safety Concept Incorporated into a New and Innovative Car” (SCENIC), the face of the family car changed.
At the time, Renault described the Scenic as a “cocoon car”, designed from the inside out, to respond to the challenge of giving priority and comfort to all passengers.
In 2024, the 100% electric Scenic E-Tech reinvents the family car norm to meet the challenges of its time:
- Evolution of mobility habits;
- Evolution of aspirations in terms of comfort and safety;
- Greater scarcity of resources;
- Reduction of the carbon footprint associated with transport.
Although the company went through a more difficult period, where the design and some features were unsuccessful and were overtaken by other proposals, these new vehicles are returning the well-known DNA of the past to the Gallic brand.
Therefore, this new electric car was designed to be the family's first car, the one used on a daily basis, but also the one used for long weekend trips or holidays.
With a 100% electric powertrain, Renault highlights the WLTP range of up to 625 kilometers and fast charging of up to 150 kW, to meet the needs of families looking to escape.
The family car, but 100% electric
With the 100% electric Scenic E-Tech, Renault offers a cabin designed for the comfort and well-being of all its occupants.
The interior is a reference, thanks to the dedicated electric platform, the set-back wheels on all four corners, the long wheelbase of 2.78 meters, the flat floor and the compact battery.
In fact, it results in large space for passengers, with a radius of 278 mm for the knees of passengers in the rear seats, and for luggage, with a boot volume of 545 liters.
The innovative Solarbay opaque panoramic glass roof and rear armrest complete the cabin's “all-comfort” package. They help to redefine the onboard experience, such as the OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google entertainment and information applications.
Highlight is the sound signature, the result of a collaboration with the artist, composer and author Jean-Michel Jarre.
With a power of up to 160 kW (220 hp), compact dimensions and the dedicated AmpR Medium electric platform, the 100% electric Scenic E-Tech provides dynamic and agile driving, adapted to all journeys.
The 87 kWh battery, the dual compatibility of all versions with DC recharging at fast charging points on access roads and highways, and AC recharging at domestic charging points contribute to the Scenic E-Tech 100 % electric be a reassuring choice.
According to Renault, the 100% electric Scenic E-Tech is available in four equipment levels, being the first electric car in the brand's range to include the Esprit Alpine finish, which gives it a sporty and stimulating touch.
It is available to order in Portugal from €40,690.

As a final note and after many hundreds of kilometers, the car proved to be very balanced, with a quick response, without being brutish. The autonomy will surprise you.
Although some materials would benefit from another composition, the weight of the car is one of the “secrets” to success.
The cabin features a very intelligent assistant. More than 700 commands allow Google Assistant to perform countless tasks and transform various desires into orders.
