Rodrigo Faro transforms into Silvio Santos in a film trailer about the owner of SBT; look

Rodrigo Faro appeared this Tuesday (02) with the complete characterization of Silvio Santos in the first release of the biographical film “Silvio”, about the SBT boss. See below.

The film will show passages from the life of Silvio Santos starting from the kidnapping that mobilized Brazil in 2001. Furthermore, the story promises to reveal secrets and curiosities that have never been exposed on Brazilian TV about the presenter and businessman,

The focus of the story is the seven hours in which Silvio was held hostage in his own home, in Morumbi, an upscale neighborhood in São Paulo. The case took place on August 30, 2001, two days after his daughter Patrícia Abravanel was freed from her own kidnapping — a case that had national repercussions. The presenter was taken hostage in his home by one of the criminals from the previous crime.

While Faro was 48 years old during filming (held in 2022), Sílvio Santos was 71 when the crime happened. That’s why the actor had to undergo a transformation, with special aging makeup and hair prosthetics.

Rodrigo Faro returned to acting after 16 years to play the role of Sílvio Santos. He combined his work at Record TV with 40 days of filming, which included more than three hours of behind-the-scenes characterization per day.

“He has always been and is a reference communicator for me. When I was little and went to SBT to participate in his program, I would hide in the audience, watching him present, and I thought that one day I could be on stage just like him , being a presenter, a communicator”, said Faro in a statement sent to the press.

“After I became a presenter, I had the opportunity to meet Silvio on the stage of his program to receive the Press Trophy a few times, and I always wanted to pay tribute to him. And now I have the opportunity to do that in life – a film about Silvio Santos for Brazil”.

The film “Silvio” is directed by Marcelo Antunez (“Rodeio Rock”), produced by Moonshot Pictures, Maristela Filmes, FJ Produções, DIS Group, co-produced by Paramount Pictures and distributed by Imagem Filmes.

The cast also includes Johnnas Oliva (“Haja Coração”), Vinícius Ricci (“9mm: São Paulo”), Polliana Aleixo (“A Sogra Perfeita”), Adriana Lodoño (“Serras Azuis”), Ana Paula Lopez (“Psi “), Marjorie Gerardi (“Genesis”), Duda Mamberti (“Flor do Caribe”), Paulo Gorgulho (“Perfect Love”) and others.

“Silvio” premieres in Brazilian cinemas on September 5, 2024.
