Covid-19 cases in Baixada Santista increased by 182% between January and February this year. A survey carried out by g1, this Sunday (17), revealed that, combined, seven of the nine cities registered 1,239 cases in the last month, compared to 438 in January. Mongaguá did not provide comparative data, while Praia Grande said it no longer counts the number of infected people. (check the table below)

Itanhaém was the city with the highest increase, from 68 to 319 cases, a difference of 251 infected or a 363% increase. Nine hospitalizations were also recorded.

Mongaguá City Hall reported having registered 94 cases of Covid-19, but did not specify the periods in which the diseases were confirmed.

Praia Grande City Hall reported that “since May 5, 2023, when the end of the pandemic was declared, the Municipal Public Health Secretariat has no longer carried out this survey. The latest data from the Covid bulletin is from May 4, 2023”.

In May 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the end of the public health emergency, but not the end of the pandemic that, on March 11, completed four years.
