Arapiraca crafts have a lot to celebrate. Through the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development and Tourism, the City Hall has been providing all the necessary support and providing several new achievements to the community, made up of almost 800 professionals in the municipality.

The celebration of Craftsman’s Day was in partnership with Senac and Sebrae, with the lecture “Trends of Brazilian Crafts 2024/2025”, given by fashion designer and embroidery artisan, Silvia Santos. Afterwards, the group of 40 artisans had a moment of rest and leisure provided by Partage Arapiraca Shopping and Cinesystem with a cinema session.

The partnership with the shopping mall is nothing new: Mercado do Artesanato Margarida Gonçalves has a unit within the establishment, where they sell products of the most varied types, from embroidery to artisanal cachaça, with competitive prices, lots of creativity and skill.

Last week, the partnership also resulted in another edition of the Arapiraca Crafts Fair (Feir’art), which took place from March 14th to 17th and also featured exclusive free workshops.

This same month, the Association of Artisans and Plastic Artists of Arapiraca (AAAPA), founded in December 2019, received a declaration of public utility, a benefit that promotes not only the social recognition of the institution, but also helps in raising funds.

Furthermore, in 2023, the association received the “Aqui se Faz Cultura” seal, given by the Municipal Department of Culture, Leisure and Youth to entities that encourage culture in the municipality, and was also present at the largest crafts fair in Latin America, Fenearte, which took place in Olinda.

This entire set of actions and achievements reinforces Mayor Luciano Barbosa’s commitment to valuing artisans, one of those largely responsible for valuing local culture and keeping the tradition of the people of Arapiraca alive through art.
