This Monday (1) only three of the 68 health centers in Campinas have the bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 produced by Pfizer. In the early afternoon, there were 54 doses available at the three locations, according to the medicines and vaccines map. Residents have reported a lack of the vaccine in several health units since last week.

In December 2023, the municipality began applying the 2nd dose of the bivalent to elderly people (60 years or older) and immunosuppressed people over 12 years of age, who had received the first dose of the vaccine at least six months ago. The measure followed guidance from the Ministry of Health. The vaccine is also offered to those who have not yet completed the vaccination schedule.

According to the Municipal Health Department, in the last shipment only 40% of the necessary doses were sent to Campinas. The Ministry also reported that the State, responsible for distribution, promised a new delivery of the vaccine by the end of this week. The bivalent is an updated version of the immunizers already applied in Brazil and, therefore, guarantees greater protection against the most recent variants of the coronavirus.

The largest number of doses of the bivalent is available in Campinas at the DIC III Health Center: 24 in total. At CS Cássio Raposo do Amaral there are 18 doses and only 12 at CS Nova América.

The flu vaccination campaign continues in the municipality. This Monday, only five health units are without immunization: Vila União, Santa Lúcia, CAPS Roda Viva, Itajaí and Parque Valença.
