“When I arrived in England I had the contract in hand and so far so good, but I didn’t have a place to stay. The address I had, the supposed house where I was going to stay, didn’t even exist”, he began by saying, revealing that he spent five days sleeping on the street: “It was at that time that I had, I don’t know, around five, six days sleeping under a bridge, it was a very sheltered place, it was more discreet, there was a huge path where, at a certain point, I had visibility, and I got some blankets and went there. And they stayed there for five nights.”

After living these days, she managed to find a house where a couple who worked shifts lived, however, not everything went well, as the man who lived in the house began to harass her. “He was about twenty years old. She harassed me for a long time. I made a point, many times, during the night, of not showing up at home. I would go for a walk and wait for her to return at five in the morning, so I could go into the house. “, he began to reveal, before describing what happened one night.

“And he tried to rape me. One day she came into my room and tried to rape me. I started screaming, but there were no more houses around. I really believe in God and I just screamed and asked ‘Why God, why are you doing this to me? But why?’ That night, his wife came home early and he heard the key opening the door and he punched me in the face and said: ‘Woe to you…’. The next day I left and never told anyone,” he concluded.

Catarina Sampaio did not reveal anything about what happened and the family only found out thanks to the conversation with Manuel Luís Goucha.
