The City of Olinda, through Basic Health Care, reinforces, this Monday (25), vaccination against flu at Quilombo Urbano de Xamba, on Rua Severina Paraíso da Silva, number 86, in São Benedito. Quilombolas are part of the priority group in the influenza vaccination campaign. The goal is to vaccinate 2,400 quilombolas.

The coordinator of Health Care for the Black Population, Carmem Cavalcanti, explains that vaccination against flu will also be available in April. “We start today, the 25th, but the quilombola population can look for the vaccine on Mondays in April and guarantee immunization. And next week, the 4th, we will be in Cidade Tabajara with Saúde nos Terreiros, continuing the agenda of the first semester”, she reinforces.

Tila Oliveira, coordinator of the Tia Luiza Institute, talks about the importance of priority access to vaccination for quilombolas, considering the difficulties in accessing healthcare that many communities face. “It is gratifying for people who are quilombolas and from terreiro to have this service within the community. Here we also have a church, schools, children who live on the riverbank. Therefore, I make a point of going door to door to raise awareness and encourage people to come and get vaccinated and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to protect themselves against the flu,” she explains.

The service will be available, at the same address, also on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of April, always in the morning, from 9am to 12pm.
