Yellow March

The campaign “Yellow March”, promoted by the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Uberlândia (HV/UFU), aims to prevent and guide the care of kidney and urinary tract diseases in animals. This year, the campaign takes place on March 26th and 28th, with prior scheduling. Consultations and clinical examinations will be completely free and, according to Leandro Zuccolotto Crivellenti, professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Famev/UFU), the aim is to raise awareness among animal owners to periodically carry out veterinary assessments. “We will check with a clinical, blood, urine, blood pressure and ultrasound examination”, explains Crivellenti.

According to the veterinarian, around 90% of the animals that arrive at the HV/UFU nephrology and urology office are in an advanced stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD), which is the progressive loss of kidney function. The disease affects several breeds of cats and dogs, being recurrent in dog breeds, such as Shih-Tzu, and felines, such as Persians.
