To intensify the action plan to combat Aedes aegypti, the City of Aracaju, through the Municipal Health Department (SMS), provides a service channel for the population to report outbreaks or breeding sites of the mosquito that transmits dengue, zika and chikungunya .

The population plays an extremely important role in combating the insect, and through this reporting channel it is possible to make records of possible breeding sites, so that SMS Epidemiological Surveillance agents can evaluate and inspect, in the field, if necessary. Making a report is easy: just access the form, available at this link, on the City Hall website, and fill in the necessary data, such as name, email and telephone number, in addition to providing photos or videos and the location address reported.

“Through the complaint regarding the outbreak, an evaluation of the photo or video will be carried out by the Epidemiological Surveillance team, for initial guidance for those who made the complaint. If an inspection is necessary, it will be carried out by the field team”, explains the director of Health Surveillance (DVS), Taise Cavalcante.

In addition to the form, the population can also register complaints through the Health Ombudsman’s Office, via email [email protected], sending photos and videos of locations with outbreaks, or via the telephone center 0800 729 3534, in option 2. To register suspected cases of Aedes aegypti, this can be done via MonitorAju, in the same telephone center, by clicking on option 1.

“MonitorAju monitors patients with suspected dengue, zika and chikungunya who were notified by health establishments during the week, and on weekends and holidays, by the Strategic Health Surveillance Information Center of Epidemiological Surveillance. This monitoring is a way of monitoring patients before the results of the disease are available. The Aracaju Health team calls to monitor patients from the first to the seventh day, the most critical period for dengue, for the signs and symptoms of these diseases, asking questions about signs and symptoms, as well as providing guidance on the diseases”, highlights Taíse.

Closed and abandoned properties

In the case of closed and abandoned houses or land, where the community does not know who the owner is, the field team seeks identification from the Municipal Finance Department (Semfaz).

“We contacted Semfaz so that, through the IPTU registration, we could have access to the property owner, this is the first action. When we manage to contact you, the field team calls and schedules a visit to this property. Once the inspection is completed, a home visit form will be filled out, containing the date, time and name of the health agent. Due to the complaint, the property will be monitored and, if necessary, the agents will return for a new inspection”, informs the director of Health Surveillance.
