The Dengue Reference Centers opened by the Municipal Hospital last Thursday (28) and by the Hospital de Clínicas Sul on March 16, created specific flows for people with dengue symptoms, which reduced the time taken to provide care to patients.

At both stations, the average service time is around 1 hour and 10 minutes. At Reference Centers, patients undergo a rapid test, blood test and receive serum hydration. Cases that require hospitalization are incorporated into the hospitals themselves.

As of midday this Monday (April 1), more than 7,600 patients had been treated at the two locations, which are 100% SUS and open 24 hours a day. The total number of patients per day varies between 360 and 400 people.

Flow

At the Municipal Hospital, patients with more severe symptoms are placed in a specific space in the row of hydration chairs. There are no offices and doctors circulate among the 30 seats receiving patient information from nurses and carrying out clinical examinations.

The difference at Hospital da Vila is the installation of hematology equipment on site that immediately analyzes blood samples, optimizing the waiting time for the result.

At Hospital de Clínicas Sul, flows were analyzed for several days in the search for a service with less delay in welcoming and treating patients.

The hospital reactivated the central reception, which was exclusively for patients with dengue symptoms. Two rooms were set up for hydration, a room to accommodate patients while waiting for test results and another room for any increase in cases. A nursing station was also created.

At the Municipal Hospital, the unit was installed in the auditorium of the Lucy Montoro Rehabilitation Center, in a partnership between the City of São José dos Campos and the State government, which maintains Lucy Montoro.

The location is next to the Hospital da Vila parking lot, on the same sidewalk as the Emergency Room. At Clínicas Sul, the Center is located within the hospital itself.

The Municipal Hospital and the Hospital de Clínicas Sul are maintained by the City of São José dos Campos. HM is managed by SPDM (Paulista Association for the Development of Medicine) and Clínicas Sul by OS Hospital e Maternidade Therezinha de Jesus.
